He worked as the director of the School of Tourism Management and Hotel Management between 2011-2013, as the dean of the Faculty of Tourism, which he founded between 2013-2019, and as the head of the Department of Business Administration between 2013-2018. Özdemir, who served as Vice Rector of Afyon Kocatepe University between 2019-2023, was reappointed to the same position on 6 June 2023. Özdemir is married and has 3 children.
