ABSTRACT
In this research it is investigated whether there are job satisfaction differences among school counselors working at private elementary schools, state elementary schools, and guidance and research centers in İzmir. Additionally, the differences among the levels of job satisfaction are examined according to some demographic variables. The sample of the research consists of 258 school counselors in İzmir. The data was collected by using Minnesota Job Satisfaction Scale and personal information sheet. One-Way Anova, Scheffe and t-test methods were performed on the data as statistical procedures. According to the fi ndings of the research it was indicated that the job satisfaction of the teachers working at private elementary schools is higher than those of both working at the state elementary schools and guidance and research centers. As far as the graduation variable is concerned, the job satisfaction levels of the teachers graduated from the Guidance and Counseling were higher than those of graduated from the psychology department. The other result of the research was that there were no mean differences among the teachers when gender, educational level, and the carrier variables are concerned.
