ABSTRACT
Information technology is recognized as essential tools for electronic health records. Modern health care delivery is complex and electronic health record has different roles in different settings. Although patients/individuals are the focus of health care, the traditional client server model is being rapidly changed. Therefore electronic health care data must focus on fundamental ethical principles. Information technology has the same barriers like high cost, complex structure, lack of data standards and no privacy protection, At the same time, the system has benefits like reducing health care costs and medical errors, and helping clinical decisions. The aim of this article is to explaine how electronic health records have ethical problems and to give knowledge about the necessary characteristics of electronic health records.
